TALL RED HUTCH

I really need to start taking photo's of our furniture before redoing them. This hutch was purchased at our Church's yard sale it was white and in need of some new paint it also had some appliques that added nothing to it, so we painted it bright red and glazed it with black, removed the appliques and the the polished brass knobs that were replaced with bronze Venetian knobs and we both loved the way it turned out it reminds us of a old public phone booth.

CABANA STAND

My Grandparents had a stand similar to this in the 60's that they put the phone on top and stored their record albums underneath, I loved to look at those old albums The Carter Sisters, Roy Clark,Johnny Cash and the likes. My Grandpa also bought albums that had been discounted, you know the ones that they would drill a little hole at the top corner to indicate that it was discounted, and they were trying to get rid of...albums like the barbershop quartet that no one ever heard of or recordings of drag racing or Calypso music by artist no one has heard of but they always had some colorful album covers. The Cabana Stripes are something I saw someone else doing on their furniture blog and I liked it and wanted to do a piece like that, also wanted to try my frog tape out on the stripes it works great nice sharp stripes. I filled the channels that the old doors slid in with good old Bondo and sanded it flat.

BLACK TOP FIX-UP

Michelle and I have bought a number of piece's that had some beautiful stained wood and really messed up top surfaces and some times it just makes sense to resurface the top in black and leave everything else alone. I personally like this look and have sold all the piece's we have did this to. Check out the pic's below, what do you think??
